Columnist and author Shobhaa De has spoken up amid the barrage of criticism directed at Yash’s newest film, ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’. Despite pulling in impressive box office numbers, the Geetu Mohandas-directed movie hasn’t been spared from online flak. Shobhaa has since disclosed that she watched Vikrant Massey‘s ‘Musafir Cafe’ to “shake off” the ongoing chatter around ‘Toxic’.

While sharing a video, Shobhaa remarked, “Just to get over the toxicity surrounding Toxic, the reviews have been dreadful and most people are saying who could possibly sit through a film like this. But this is not about Toxic, this is about something much, much sweeter.” She went on to share that she had watched ‘Musafir Cafe’ and found herself thoroughly won over by it.
Shobhaa De praises Vikrant Massey and Vedika Pinto
Speaking about the movie, Shobhaa said, “To get over the Toxic effect, I watched the charming Musafir Cafe.” She was especially taken with Vikrant, who essays the role of Chander Mohan. Lauding the actor, she remarked, “And Vikrant Massey, I can’t imagine any woman not falling in love with a man like him. Dependable, charming, he plays Chander Mohan with a certain throwaway nonchalance.” She was equally full of praise for Vedika Pinto, saying the actress deserves greater visibility on the big screen. Shobhaa further added, “And Vedika Pinto, she is combustible. She should be a big star on the big screen. Tender, loving, lots of layers, great script. Lovely story.”

Shobhaa also seemed taken by the visual charm of Musafir Cafe’s setting. On the locations, she shared that watching the film left her wanting to fly to Mussoorie for a cafe experience just like the one on screen. She said, “The locations, Mussoorie, I immediately wanted to take a flight and rush up to Mussoorie to enjoy a cafe experience like the one shown in the show.” Calling the film cozy and heartfelt, she went on to say, “It’s just the right sentiment, hitting the right notes without overstating anything. It’s so heartwarming. It’s like having hot soup on a very cold, misty evening in Mussoorie.” She ended her note by encouraging those who haven’t watched the film to check it out.Meanwhile, ‘Toxic’ has been grabbing attention on two fronts: its box office performance and the flak it’s been receiving.
