‘Ramayana‘ is gearing up to take over the global box office this Diwali. With the monster film ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ also arriving at the box office over the festive weekend, the team behind the Indian epic has seemingly opted to advance its release in international markets.
‘Ramayana’ advances release date
As per the latest post on Sony Pictures Australia, ‘Ramayana’ will now arrive in Australian cinemas a day ahead of its previously announced global release and open in theatres on November 5, 2026. The early release gives the Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi starrer a head start over Takashi Yamazaki’s ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’, which is scheduled to hit cinemas on November 6.The scheduling sets up an interesting box-office face-off between two large-scale spectacles, both of which are expected to benefit from premium-format and IMAX screenings.
‘Ramayana’ gets a one-day advantage
The new release date could give ‘Ramayana’ an advantage by allowing it to begin its theatrical run before ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ arrives on November 6. The film will also have an extended run at the box office, thus giving it a chance to rake in the big bucks.
About ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’
While ‘Ramayana’ is being mounted as a global cinematic event, ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ follows success of the Oscar-winning ‘Godzilla Minus One’, which became a global phenomenon and won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. The new film returns to post-war Japan and features Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe reprising their roles. The sequel is scheduled to release in Japan on November 3 and will have an international rollout three days later.
‘Ramayana’ to have delayed release in India
‘Ramayana’, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is a two-part epic that has been designed as a major global theatrical release. While ‘Part 1’ will hit theatres on Diwali, November 8 in India, the sequel ‘Part 2’ will release on Diwali 2027.
