ETimes review for ‘Con City’

ETimes awarded Con City a rating of 3 out of 5 stars. The review stated, “Give Harish Durairaj this much: for a debut, he is reaching past the cookie-cutter template, building a multi-strand con story with a family pulse instead of the usual hero heroics. Not all of it comes off, and the film would play sharper for shedding 15-20 minutes from its baggier stretches. The performers cover for a lot. Arjun Das plays softer and warmer than his recent intense run, and the Yogi Babu and Vadivukkarasi double act is the most dependable source of fun. Sean Roldan’s songs are a real plus and his background score does steady work, while Aravind Viswanathan’s camerawork is functional. There’s nothing here you haven’t seen, but the cast makes the familiar go down smooth. Con City is happy being a decent hang, and you might be too.”
