‘Avengers Endgame: Encore’ is all set to take over theatre screens once again as it gears up for its re-release on Firday, September 25. Ahead of its release, the film has already witnessed strong advance bookings in India.As per a report on Sacnilk, the film has recorded an estimated Rs 13.23 crore in advance bookings across six show dates. Excluding blocked seats, the film still managed to hit double digits, with the advance gross currently standing at Rs 10.12 crore.The film’s opening day on Friday, September 25 is leading the advance booking race, with Rs 5.05 crore already grossed through advance ticket sales. As for the occupancy, the evening shows are currently registering the fastest pace of bookings, with a 25% turnout across 411 shows. Night shows, meanwhile, are recording 22% occupancy across 999 shows, making them the slowest-moving category for the opening day at present.Maharashtra is currently the biggest contributor to the opening day’s advance gross, with Delhi following close behind and Karnataka rounding up the top 3. The top 10 states together account for approximately 90% of the film’s opening-day gross.The original English version is reportedly driving the opening-day business, generating Rs 4.11 crore from 1,439 shows. Bengaluru is currently the biggest city market for the English version, contributing Rs 72.52 lakh, the Delhi NCR region follows with Rs 71.77 lakh, while Mumbai has recorded Rs 53.29 lakh.The Hindi version accounts for 9% of the opening-day gross, while the Telugu version has contributed 7% of the opening-day gross and the Tamil version currently accounting for 3%.The strong advance booking comes amid much hype and anticipation for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, which is scheduled to arrive in December. The 2019 Marvel blockbuster is reportedly tracking an estimated USD 25 million-USD 28 million opening weekend domestically in the US. As per Variety, the film will compete for the top spot at the US box office against Zach Cregger’s ‘Resident Evil’, which is targeting USD 24 million- USD 26 million in its second weekend. Meanwhile, three new releases – the Brad Pitt-led survival adventure ‘The Heart of the Beast’, the animated film ‘Forgotten Island’, and ‘Primetime’, starring Robert Pattinson, will compete for the remaining top positions.Ahead of the release, director-duo the Russo Brothers, took to their handles, to share a note to fans that read, “The most emotional night of our careers was sneaking into theaters on opening night of Avengers Endgame. We stood in the back and watched a thousand strangers react – the gasps, the cheers, the tears. We got chills. And may have shed a tear or two ourselves. It was a magical experience in a movie theater. And it was a magical experience for two Comic Book fans from Cleveland, Ohio, who as kids dreamed of telling stories that made people leap out of their seats with excitement. Stories that inspired them. And fired their imaginations. Just so you know, we’ll be sneaking into theaters again for Avengers Endgame: Encore. There’s a generation that only ever saw this movie in their living room. And we want to hear what it sounds like when they finally get to see it in a theater.”Reminding fans that the new film will feature a few new surprises, the Russo Brothers said, “One last request. There’s some new surprises in Avengers Endgame: Encore. Please don’t spoil them for everyone else. Give them the same opportunity to discover those surprises that you had.”The return of Avengers: Endgame comes as Marvel builds anticipation for the next chapter of its superhero saga. The re-release is expected to serve as a theatrical bridge to ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, with four additional scenes setting up the plot for the next film.
