The study famously examined whether common indoor plants could help remove pollutants from sealed environments. The research helped put 15 familiar houseplants on the map as potential natural air-cleaners.As per NASA Clean Air Study, here’s a list of 15 houseplants which are “NASA-recommended” or “NASA air-purifying” plants. A 2026 compilation by CO2Meter highlights these 15 plants and the pollutants they were associated with in the research.But there is an important catch: NASA did not declare that filling your home with these plants would replace an air purifier.Spider PlantSpider Plant is among the easiest plants for beginners.
