Veteran music composer Mani Sharma recently delivered a touching speech during the audio launch of the film ‘Chennai Love Story’ in Hyderabad. The music composer, known for chart-topping records across several languages, particularly Telugu and Tamil, spoke candidly about the period when he barely had any work. Mani Sharma said that he was chilling at home when film director Sai Rajesh approached him with the idea of composing music for the movie. The speech spread quickly among the music composer’s well-wishers, who were touched by Sharma’s straightforwardness and simplicity despite his many years in the field.

Mani Sharma recalls how director Sai Rajesh convinced him to compose again

Mani Sharma stated, as part of the event, how the opportunity arrived at an unexpected time. According to him, he had not met Sai Rajesh before and was surprised when the director visited him. Sharing the moment, as per India Today, he said, “One day I was just sitting at home when he came and said he was a director who made the film ‘Baby’.” The composer admitted that he was initially confused about why the director had come to meet him. “I was wondering why he was telling me this and what work he had for me,” he said. That meeting eventually turned into an important moment in his career.

Mani Sharma reveals music returned after touching his harmonium again

Mani Sharma further revealed how Sai Rajesh encouraged him to start composing again. The composer said that he even joked about not knowing where his harmonium was. “I told him I don’t even know where my harmonium is now,” he said. But the director did not give up. “He himself went and found it, cleaned the dust, and brought it,” Mani Sharma shared with a smile. Once he sat down and started working, he realised that the music inside him was still alive. “After composing one tune, I understood that music is within me,” he said, adding that the team worked together happily and created several beautiful tunes.
