A South Carolina pastor and his wife have been arrested after a former foster child accused them of sexual abuse, authorities said. Rodney Gibson and Kawiana Young, both 50, have been charged with unlawful conduct with a minor, while Gibson faces additional charges, including first- and second-degree criminal sexual conduct and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.According to officials, the victim approached authorities last month, alleging repeated abuse during their time in foster care at the couple’s home.Investigators said the abuse began when the victim was 15 and continued until they aged out of the system.During the investigation, authorities discovered another minor living with the couple. The child told investigators they had been sexually abused by Gibson and physically abused by Young, leading to their placement in emergency protective custody. However, following a court hearing on March 20, the minor was briefly returned to the couple’s home. Subsequent interviews and new evidence prompted authorities to obtain arrest warrants. The couple was taken into custody on April 1, and the child was again removed and placed under protective care.Officials said Young, a licensed foster parent between 2021 and 2025, failed to disclose that Gibson lived in the home and did not list him on official records. She also reportedly claimed she was not in a relationship. Both Gibson, a pastor at Pathway 2 Hope Ministries, and Young, who runs DreamCatcher Child Development Center, were released on bond the following day. Authorities believe there may be more victims and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
