Anil Sharma shares 'Gadar 3' update; director working on script, teases film could begin shooting in 2027

Filmmaker Anil Sharma gave fans a lot to look forward to in 2027, as he confirmed that the much-awaited ‘Gadar 3’ is officially in the works.As ‘Gadar’ gears up to mark 25 years of its release, the director, in his latest chat, confirmed that development on the next chapter of the blockbuster franchise is underway and also teased a timeline to get fans hyped and excited.

‘Gadar 3’ to go on floors in 2027

Sharma, in his interview with Hindustan Times, shared an update on the upcoming third part in the franchise. While stressing on the importance of a good script, he said, “…for me, if the Gadar story was a bomb, I would only make Gadar 2 if I got an atom bomb story, and it made history. Now, if I get a nuclear bomb story, then only I will make it.” He then went on to admit, “We are working on the script and, God willing, if all goes on track, we will start Gadar 3 next year!”There has been a lot of buzz and excitement around the ‘Gadar’ franchise, since the sequel, starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel became one of the biggest box-office successes of 2023.

Anil Sharma keen to cast Nana Patekar in ‘Gadar 3’

Interestingly, during his chat, the director also teased at a possible addition to the cast. During the promotional campaign for ‘Vanvaas’, the filmmaker spoke to The Lallantop about veteran actor Nana Patekar and the possibility of bringing him into the Gadar universe. According to the director, he had a word with Patekar and believed it would be great if the actor could be a part of the next instalment.

In a previous conversation with India Today Digital, Sharma revealed that the team had already begun work on the film’s script. At the time, the director explained that his focus was on completing his film ‘Vanvaas’ and he went on to assure fans that the team would then shift its attention to ‘Gadar 3’.
